Billie Eilish, who’s full name is Billie Eilish Pirate Baird O’Connell, is a young American singer and songwriter. Her viral hit “Ocean Eyes” has garnered more than 50 million streams on the streaming platform Spotify which has helped her to kick start her music career.

Early Life

O’Connell was born on December 18, 2001 in Highland Park, Los Angeles. Her family comes from a background of arts as many of her family members are actors and musicians. This has definitely shaped her career in music as this environment would have encouraged creativity to flourish. Her parents are actress-musician-screenwriter Maggie Baird and Patrick O’Connell.

Eilish has also mentioned in an interview that she was home-schooled which helped her a lot in managing the time flexibly for her musical career. She started being home-schooled since the age of eight which helped to her to get active on the Los Angeles Children’s Chorus. She mentions this is where she learned all of her singing techniques she uses today.

Her parents have got to be applauded for providing young Eilish the direction and environment needed in order to make her passion for music into a thriving career. By the time she was eleven years old, she had already began writing her own original songs along with her older brother named Finneas O’Connell.

Eilish says that the creative process for the song took place along with his brother. His brother had a big hand in writing the song and Eilish made sure that the execution was great as well. Layer the song was re-released through Interscope Records. She went on to release four remixes of this popular single of hers. Another hit of hers was the single called “Six Feet Under”.

Along with her brother, they went on to release a new hit called Bellyache. This song and its music video has really caught on with her fans, who seem to love her unique sense of music. Her song called “Bored” has even managed to become a soundtrack for the hit series called “13 Reasons Why”. Later, she went on to release the singles “Watch” and “Copycat”.

At such a young age, she has already been able to release her debut Extended Play (EP) called Don’t Smile at Me. She has definitely been recognized as Apple even mentioned her to be the newest Apple Music UPNEXT artist in October 2017.
