Charles Nicholas Hodges simply known as Chas Hodges was an English singer and musician best known as the lead vocalist of musical duo ‘Chas & Dave’. Chas Hodges net worth before his death is estimated to be $6 million.
Chas was born on December 28, 1943 in Edmonton, England. Chas and Dave is known for found their band ‘Chas & Dave’ which enjoyed most of the success in the 1970s and 1980s with hits like Gretcha, Rabbit and Snooker Loopy.
The duo also recorded four FA Cup final singles for Tottenham Hotspur. He started his career as a session musician, working with producer Joe Meek. He performed with some of the great musicians like Jerry Lee Lewis, Gene Vincent, Mike Berry, Ritchie Blackmore and Cliff Bennett.
Chas & Dave’s debut album ‘One Fing n Anuvver’ was released in 1975 and went on to have eight UK top 40 hits. Their popular song Gertcha peaked No. 20 in the UK chart in May 1979 and Ain’t No Pleasing You reached No. 2 in the UK charts. The duo have released total 15 albums including Street Party in 1995 which reached No. 3 in the UK charts.
Chas also played with British band “Heads Hands & Feet” before playing with Albert Lee and Dave Peacock in Black Claw.
He was married to Joan Hodges. They got married on 1996 and together they have two children named Nik Hodges and Kate Garner.
On February 6, 2017, it was announced that Chas had been diagnosed with cancer of the oesophagus. On September 22, 2018 he died from organ failure following treatment for cancer. He was 74 years old.
