Bongino was born on December 4, 1974 in New York City, United States. He went to City University of New York where he received bachelor’s degree in psychology. He then earned Master’s degree in same course from Pennsylvania State University.
Dan Bongino worked with New York City Police Department for four years and then joined U.S. Secret Service in 1999 as a special agent. In 2006, he was given the role of US Presidential Protection division during George W. Bush term and remained on duty after Barack Obama became president. He left the office in May 2011 to run for U.S. Senate.
He ran for the U.S. Senate in Maryland in 2012. He won the Republican primary but lost to Democrat Ben Cardin in the general 2012 election. In 2014, he ran for the U.S. House of Representatives but lost against Democratic incumbent John Delaney.
After moving to Florida in 2015, he competed in U.S. House of Representatives against Francis Rooney but he placed third in the 2016 primary, losing nomination to Rooney.
Bongino now appears as a commentator on several programs. He has been a guest host for Sean Hannity and Mark Levin radio shows. He has also presented his views on news channel like NBC, Fox News, CNN, MSNBC and CBS. Bongino currently hosts a podcast called “The Dan Bongino Show”. It is available on iTunes, SoundCloud and Stitcher.
Dan Bongino has also published couple of books. In 2013, he released a book about his career as a secret service titled “Life Inside the Bubble”. The book was massive hit and went it on The New York Times and Amazon Best Sellers list. His second book titled “The Fight: A Secret Service Agent’s Inside Account of Security Failings and the Political Machine” also made it to New York Times Best Sellers list in March 2016.
Regarding his personal life, he is married to Paula Andrea who is Colombian. Together they have two daughters named Isabel Bongino and Amelia Bongino.
