Biography
Pedro was born on 2nd April 1975 in Santiago Chile. His real birth name is Jose Pedro Balmaceda Pascal. At the time of his birth, Chile was under Military Dictatorship by the famous Augusto Pinochet. This made his family sought political asylum in Denmark because they were Allende supporters. This has gone ahead in making the statement for herself in very many things.
Moreover, they were also involved in the opposition movement against the US-backed military dictatorship of Pinochet. The family later moved to the United States where he was raised in Orange County California and San Antonio, Texas. He now lives in New York City which has helped him getting closer to his job places to allow them be better than what the already are. .
At the age of 11, he was into competitive swimming in which he took part in the start Championship in Texas. Later he left it and joined the drama class. This marked his journey as an actor. He further studied acting in Orange County School of the Arts. After finishing his course, he then joined New York University’s Tisch School of Arts. Pedro has been featured in various television series such as Homeland and Graceland, The Good Wife, Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Family
The parents are known as Jose Balmaceda and Veronica Pascal. The father Balmaceda is a fertility doctor while the mother Veronica is a child psychologist. Lucas Balmaceda, the younger brother, is an actor in Chile. What most people do not know is that he has Spanish roots. Basque and Majorcan who are his grandparents are known to come from Spain.
His romantic life has since been under wraps, and it’s hard to tell whether he is dating or not. In 2014 he was rumoured for being in a relationship with Lena Headey. But this was just tell-tales since the Game of Thrones actress got married to her longtime boyfriend, Dan Cadan. That was in 2018 when she tied the knot. He has since then not been in said to be dating anyone.
Therefore, the rumours of the Pascal dating her were just rumours and nothing else. Some have even considered him to be gay. This is because of his singlehood and the roles he played in the films. However, the truth is that he is busy and has a tight schedule. Hence dating is nearly impossible for him and to clarify he is not gay but straight. The closest we can say about his family is the parents and the brother.
Career
He was first seen in the film industry in 1999. This was in the series, ‘Good vs. Evil.’ It was a step in his career and that way he was featured in various TV series such as Law & Order: Criminal Intent, ‘Downtown,’ ‘Earth vs. the Spider,’ and ‘Game of Thrones.
He is now in the famous TV series known as ‘Narcos’ that started in 2015. In the series, Javier Pena who Pedro was playing was portraying his character was ruled out in season 4. This was part of the plan from season 2. However, Pedro was aware of this and even asked them to eliminate him from the show. This shows how he is talented and knows how to play the character.
If you are a movie fanatic then am sure you have seen him in the following movies. They include ‘Bloodsucking Bastards,’ ‘The Great Wall,’ ‘Hermanas,’ ‘The Adjustment Bureau,’ ‘The Golden Circle’ and lastly ‘Kingsman.’, and the hit show “Narcos”. He has also been featured in Off-Broadway in the plays such as Beauty of the Father by Nilo Cruz, Maple and Vine by Jordan Harrison, Terrence McNally’s Some Men and Shakespeare in the Park’s 2006 production of “Macbeth’ and even David Greenspan’s “Old Comedy.” There are so many other films that are in play right now.
He also has his hands full. When he is not acting, then he wears his hut as a director. Pedro has extensive theatre experience as a director, which has earned him several awards as an actor and director. The awards include Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award and Garland Award. The Los Angeles award was given to him for his performance in ‘Orphans’ at International City Theatre. He has also performed in various classical and contemporary works all over the country. He even considered a member of New York City’s LAByrinth Theater Company.
Even after being removed from the TV series Narcos in 2018 he got a role in The Mandalorian. This is the one of its kind Star War live-action series. He has picked up the character as lone Mandalorian gunfighter. This is a Disney plus series that is scheduled to be released in late 2019.
There are the various awards that he has been nominated for. It may seem that they are many but over the years the have accumulated to give him quite a fame that has created his name. They include Screen Actors Guild Awards, New Now Next Awards, Image Foundation Awards and the Gold Derby Awards Drama. There are many other awards that are lined up for him. So much more is then expected for them.
It has then led to him creating a name for himself and creating a chance to make him more marketable for the other shows that the people would make him better than what they had already made fro himself.
