The Los Angeles House

That’s it, that’s the house.” These are the words LaTanya spoke, Sam’s wife, upon seeing the half-timber house with steep gables, mottled brick, and leaded windows. Before the more prestigious property that the couple had today, they previously owned a beautiful Tudor-style house in San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles while raising their daughter. The Valley is also housing some well-known personalities like Ice Cube and Selena Gomez.

According to designer Cecil N. Hayes: “The house speaks for LaTanya and Sam as a total spirit. What you see is exactly who they are.” Stands at 4491 square feet of land, the property consists of 4 beds, a separate structure which became a screening room after renovation, leather seat covers, a large family room with a fireplace, an elegant dining room, country style kitchen, several artworks, and a couple of unique expensive items. Early Life

Born in Washington, D.C. on December 21, 1948, Samuel Leroy Jackson is the son of Elizabeth Harriett (a factory worker later became a supplier-buyer for a mental institution) and Roy Henry Jackson. He was solely raised by his mother and only met his father twice in his entire life. This is because his dad lived far from his family and later died due to alcoholism.

His Stutter Problems

Unbeknownst to a lot of people, Sam has a condition where his stutters can become uncontrollable. This began in his childhood years, and as he mentioned in The Howard Stern Show: “I stuttered really, really, really bad for a long time…to the point that I stopped speaking for, like, almost a year in school.” You may have guessed his discovered cure to this: the word “M*therf*cker”. When asked why Sam simply responds that he doesn’t know how but it definitely switches the “stutter button” off.

Wife

LaTanya Richardson. They first met while attending Morehouse College and later on she became an actress and producer. According to LaTanya, she was never impressed with Sam when she first met him. She recalls that he is flamboyant, self-involved, and emotionally detached. In 1980, the two got married and two years later, Zoe Jackson was born.

The Jackson Family

Their relationship was also faced with issues especially surrounding substance abuse by the actor. The worst event he remembers is being overdosed in the kitchen: “She could have just taken Zoe and walked out and been done with me. But she didn’t. That’s a greater love than I will ever know. Because I don’t know that I would’ve done that.

The Secret

In their 40 years of marriage, the couple agreed to share their secrets in an interview. The first one was to never go to bed angry at your partner and make sure to seek help from God. “You have to have a big heart and the Lord. You can’t do this without the Lord. You’re going to have to turn to somebody, something, because men, they are different.

It was also revealed by Sam that LaTanya is the reason how he was becoming successful in his acting career. She is her harshest critic and inspired him to become better.

Movies

Samuel L. Jackson’s movie profile is considered one of Hollywood’s massive acting careers. In the IMDB page, it’s said that Sam has a total of 189 films under his belt and this includes films that haven’t been released yet. Now, let’s look at some of Mr. Jackson’s most notable roles.

Pulp Fiction: Jules Winnfield

Released in 1994, Pulp Fiction is an American Neo-Noir black comedy crime film starring Samuel L. Jackson, John Travolta, Bruce Willis, and Uma Thurman.  Directed by Quentin Tarantino, the film is inspired by hardboiled crime novels and pulp magazines for both are known for their one-liners and violence. The movie was well-received by critics and audiences alike stating that this is one of the most influential movies of the 90s.

Pulp Fiction

The role Sam played was originally written with Laurence Fishburne in mind. However, the actor declined the offer to play it due to the film’s casual take on drugs. This was a blessing in disguise for Sam as it boosted his career to more and more offers in the upcoming years. The movie became a cult classic and an inspiration to many crime filmmakers. At the same time, Sam provided some of the most badass and memorable lines in movie history which can be seen below:

Unbreakable/Glass: Elijah Price

Back when the DCEU nor the MCU didn’t exist yet, Samuel L. Jackson, Bruce Willis and Director M. Night Shyamalan has already launched one of the most grounded yet impactful psychological superhero crime thriller of all time: Unbreakable. After 16 years, Split was released and marked the full circle turns that the series is about to take.

Glass Red Carpet Premiere

Sam played Mr. Glass, a physically disabled comic-book fanatic whose bones are easily broken or has a record of several accidents ever since childhood. Despite having these disadvantages, Glass is a gifted individual with top-of-the-chain intelligence whose masterplan was to expose the supernaturality that exists in this world to justify his existence at the expense of eliminating the lives around him.

Star Wars Franchise: Mace Windu

When reporters asked me, ‘Are there any directors you want to work with that you haven’t worked with before,’ I would say, ‘George Lucas is about to do the Star Wars thing, I’d really love to work with him.’ And I said that often enough that somebody heard it and told him. I got invited to the Ranch to see if I was serious about that. Yeah, sure! You can make me a stormtrooper if you want, I don’t care—as long as I know I’m in the movie, I don’t care if anybody else knows or not.” This is how passionate Sam into working for a George Lucas Star Wars movie in which a role he was successfully granted for.

Sam played Jedi Master Mace Windu. Mace is a Force-sensitive human who served as a member of the Jedi High Council during the final years of the Galactic Republic. In the 2005 film Revenge of The Sith, Windu died in the hands of Anakin Skywalker, who cuts off his hand, after he turned into the Dark Side which then Darth Sidious took advantage of striking Windu with lighting that threw him off the window.

The Avengers Franchise: Nick Fury

Just like what they say, if you want to start a successful franchise, make sure to have Samuel L. Jackson in it. This theory stays unbreakable as the MCU was cinema’s greatest achievement in current times. “I guess I got the part because Mark Millar and some other people decided when they created the Ultimates that Nick Fury was physically me. When I picked up that comic book in the comic store, I’m not sure I’m giving anybody the right to use my image in a comic book. So, when I call my manager and agents to check what Marvel will say… We’re thinking of making the movies and we hope you’re in.

Colonel Nicholas Joseph Fury Sr. is a fictional character appearing in Marvel comics Ultimate Marvel comic event. The image of the character in the said version was straight up Samuel Jackson. He became the Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. who initializes the Avengers program. In recent news, it appears that Sam would reprise his role in the upcoming Disney+ series titled Nick Fury. (We can all wonder if he can drop the F-bomb in there.)

We all knew Sam as the guys he played for the silver screen. But what lies beyond this icon is a down-to-earth man who loves his family and is willing to take enough risks to make a character as badass as he is. In his several years of being in the industry, almost 200 films under his belt, there’s no question as to how his name is already engraved into the memories of moviegoers.
