His father was a famed and at the same time notorious figure. He was well-known as the founder of the restaurant chain called Benihana and even gained fame as a wrestler. Even though he’s father was a rich businessman, Aoki never received a single dime from his father. His father even mentioned in an interview how Business was his first priority, health was his second and family was his third priority.

Aoki finished his studies from Newport Harbor High School in 1995 and would later attend the University of California, eventually graduating with two B.A. degrees. Looking back at his childhood, Aoki mentioned in an interview with Patrick Bet-David, how it helped to shape his own destiny because of how hard his father was on him.
It is because of these same values that Aoki started actively pursuing his passion from his days in college. He was an outgoing kid who loved to perform. Inside the Santa Barbara Student Housing Cooperative, Aoki used to set up underground concerts that would become hit throughout the college atmosphere. In the midst of his college studies, Aoki had managed the time to start his journey upon music by founding the company called Dim Mak, which was his own record label.
Career
After the establishment of his record label, Aoki started a duo with Blake Miller with the name titled as Weird Science. One of his earliest remixes included “When the Wind Blows”. His big rise towards the public came in 2010 with the release of the song called “I’m in the House” which was made under the collaboration with stars like Zuper Blahq. But this would only turn out to be the start of his move towards the mainstream in the music industry with Wonderland releasing in early 2012. This was his first solo album which became a very big hit and accumulated a fan following that has been growing ever since then.
The Grammy nominated album would attract collaborations with stars like LMFAO, Linkin Park, Iggy Azalea, and Fall Out Boy. In the following years, he released his two part album called Neon Future. These two group of albums would become somewhat a part of the revolution in the Electronic genre.
One of his recent hits was the album called Kolony that included an array of contemporary stars from hip-hop including names like Migos, Lil Yachty, and Gucci Mane.
