Thomas Ravenel is an American politician and former State Treasurer. He was a candidate in the 2014 election held in South Carolina for the United States Senate and currently is one of the stars of the reality series called Southern Charm.
Ravanel was born on August 11, 1962 in South Carolina, United States. He studied at the Citadel in Charleston where he completed his B.S. in 1985. He continued his studies by graduating with a MBA degree from the University of South Carolina in 1991 where the course focused on the subjects finance and real estate. Ravanel grew up in an household that was familiar with the Congress as his father, Arthur Ravenel Jr. was a former South Carolina Congressman.
Ravanel has been working in real estate for a long duration before he opted to run for the U.S. Senate. He was the founder of the Ravanel Development Corporation which was focused on services of commercial real estate. In 2004, he ran for the U.S. Senate which was very courageous of him. Surely, the influence of his father motivated him to try being a part of this group. Although he did not win, he came in third in the Republican primary election, which was a very respectable position.
Later, Ravanel would be fined for improperly filing the required forms for the election. This was a small controversy he generated but over time, similar controversies would follow him. Two years later, he managed to defeat Democrat Grady Patterson for the role of South Carolina Treasurer. He has shown his support for the Republicans as in 2012, he even endorsed Ron Paul. Not to forget, eh has also endorsed many other fellow Republicans over the years.
Ravanel’s political career was dampened in 2007 when he was indicted on federal cocaine distribution and had to go through a rehabilitation program in Arizona.

Their relationship is complicated as they have been together and have separated multiple times. He is also a member of the French Huguenot Church in Charleston.
Most recently, he has been seeing Ashley Jacobs with whom he is seen in Southern Charm. Ashley was actually a fan who wanted to get a picture with him. However the two later went on a date and have been together ever since. Ashley is a nurse and the two have recently moved in together.
Ravanel has been in the midst of controversy several times and it looks like he is facing some serious allegations again, this time on charges of sexual assault.
A real estate agent named Ashley Perkins has made public that her mother was sexually assaulted by Ravenel after meeting him on Tinder, a dating app, in December 2015. Though her mother had a $200,000 settlement with Ravanel on a non-disclosure agreement, Ashley was not involved in this deal and able to publicly speak about it.
This is not it, in May of 2018, a nanny who worked for Ravanel has filed for an incident report that claims that Ravanel forcibly raped her in his home. This incident has shook a lot of people who followed Ravanel and he production company overlooking Southern Charm is doing an independent investigation into this case.
