Kelvin was born on July 23, 1983 in Chicago, Illinois. He went to Chicago’s Hubbard High school where he played football. As a freshman, he was selected in a first team All-PowerBar team and All-Area. Hayden who was Chicago Bears fan from an early age, rushed 2,135 yards and was an All-Conference pick and All-Area selection as a junior tailback.

Career

Kelvin went to Joliet Junior College for two years where he finished his career with 115 receptions for 1,839 yards and 17 touchdowns and was two-time All-Conference and All-Region pick. In 2002, he led his team to 21 consecutive victories and NJCAA National Championship.

As a sophomore, he was NJCAA National Offensive National Player of the year, won first team JC All-America accolades and was named the Conference Player of the year. In 2002, he was also named the MVP of the 2002 NCAA National Championship. In 2003, he then went to University of Illinois where he switched from quarterback to cornerback.

Regarding his professional career, Kelvin was drafted in the second round by the Indianapolis Colts. His first season with the Colts was limited and in his second season, he recorded his first career interception in Super Bowl XLI in a victory over the Chicago Bears. Hayden played with Indianapolis Colts until 2011 and then went to Atlanta Falcons in 2011 for only one year.

In 2012, Hayden signed with Chicago Bears on a one year contract worth $825,000. In 2013, he signed a one year deal again with Bears but his time there was limited due to his frequent injury problems. Hayden then became a free agent after the 2013 season and resigned on February 28, 2014. On September 13, 2014, Chicago Bears released due to his injury issues.
