Introduction
Robert A. Baffert, who is better known as Bob Baffert, is an American racehorse trainer who most recently helped to train American Pharoah, who went on to win the 2015 Triple Crown. Baffert is one of the most known personalities when it comes to being a trainer. In total, his horses have helped to win five Kentucky Derbies, seven Preakness Stakes, two Belmont Stakes and three Kentucky Oaks.
Early Life
Baffert was born on January 13, 1953 in Nogales, Arizona. This was a ranch which helped him to get acquainted with a ranch as his family used to raise cattle and chickens. When he was only 10 years old, his father had bought some Quarter Horses. This would become an important resource for the young Baffert as it helped him to practice racing. Therefore, his childhood would help him to establish the foundations for a career that involved horse and racing.
He went on to have his first ever victory when he was only 17 years old. His focus going on to adult life was in this field and he got a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arizona where his focus was on the Race Track Industry. His career as a trainer started during this time and continued to work as a trainer with a lot of consistency.
Career
His first big breakthrough came when he was 37 years old. He won the first ever Breeder’s Cup race with Thirty Slews. This would be the start of building an empire as a trainer for Baffert, who got acquainted to playing at the highest level. Many started to known him as the big money-winning trainer from the United States.
He has had a lot of success in the Kentucky Derby. In 1997, he would win this cup by training Silver Charm. It is during this phase of his life that Baffert started to set new records and reach new heights. He became the first trainer in history to win the Derby and Preakness in back-to-back years.
In this industry, winning is not easy. It can literally take a decade before another win comes in sight. After a successful year in 2001, it would be in 2010 that he would win the Preakness Stakes training Lookin At Lucky.
In 2015, Baffert trained the 2014 champion two-year-old colt American Pharoah to win the Triple Crown, the first to do so in 37 years. This has helped him to stay relevant in the recent years. That year he had also set the record to become the second-oldest trainer to win a Triple Crown at the age of 62.

Personal Life
His first wife was Sherry. Together with her, he has four children, namely; Taylor, Canyon, Forest, and Savannah. After marrying his second wife, Jill, who worked as a former television reporter, they had a son named Bode.
