Introduction
DJ Envy is an American DJ and radio personality, who is best known for being part of the trio that hosts the popular syndicated show called “The Breakfast Club” alongside co-hosts Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God. DJ Envy, who is also known for being a big family man, is now set to launch a docu-comedy series called Gold with Envy, along with his wife Gia.
Early Life
His real name is Raashaun Casey. He was born on September 3, 1977 in Queens, New York. He hardly mentions his real name on any appearances that he tends to make mostly because his moniker is so catchy and easy to remember. Beating some of the stereotypes regarding being a Disc Jockey, Envy is well educated receiving a degree in business administration from Hampton University, Virginia.
He is very grateful for DJ Clue, an artist who comes from a similar area that Envy grew up in. According to Envy, it was DJ Clue that first introduced him to being a Disc Jockey and it is with his guidance and inspiration that Envy entered this niche as a career.
Career
Envy started networking with like minded individuals and getting active with being a DJ. By the early 2000’s, DJ Envy started to become a name the youth were acquainted with. His rise to fame is mainly because of the collaborations and associations that he had present with him. He started working with 50 Cent, who is a good friend of his till this day. He also worked with Jay Z and The L.O.X. His career started to climb to the top after he signed an important deal with Desert Storm Records.
Working together with them, he went on to release his debut studio album called The Desert Storm Mixtape: Blok Party, Vol. 1. His success being a DJ and an artist continued for many more years with him doing many live performances in many parties and nightclubs.
In 2010, very few people were surprised when he joined the team of “The Breakfast Club”. Before being a part of this popular radio-syndicated show, he had a lot of experience as he had started to host radio shows starting with Hot 97’s show called “Takin’ it to the Streets”. This was a great experience for Envy and helped him establish his name in this field. His partnership in the new show along with Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God became a big hit as there was great chemistry when they did interviews. The show became a big hit and today has grown into a radio show that is a must-listen for hip-hop fans around the world.

DJ Envy married his high school sweetheart, Gia Casey in 2001. Today the couple has five children, namely, Madison, London, Logan, Jaxson, and Brooklyn. DJ Envy sometimes proves that he is a pretty moody person and doesn’t like when his family gets disrespected in any way. He thus walked out of his own radio show during an appearance by Desus & Mero.
During an appearance by Desus and Mero on his radio show The Breakfast Club, DJ Envy was in no mood for jokes. Apparently he wanted an apology from the duo for their joke made about her wife, Gia Casey on their show called Desus & Mero.
DJ Envy always brings out his family, not in an arrogant way but in a way that shows his affection towards them. It seems that his steam regarding this event has passed and he is looking into the future more positively. He is set to appear in his own series on Bravo called Gold with Envy. This will be a new docu-comedy series that will follow his busy life of being a radio personality and a DJ as well as having to raise 5 children in the process along with his wife, Gia.
