He was born on January 12th, 1972 in Austria capital, Vienna, his mother a polish and the father from Romanian origin. He got education from a French school in Austria, Vienna regardless of coming from a humble background.
His father was diagnosed with a brain tumor when Wolff was at the age of 8 years old. Following the diagnosis, his parents’ part and the father passed on due to the disease when Wolff was at the adolescence stage.
He joined the ‘Lycee Francais de Vienne’, Vienna French prestigious school. He received an invitation at the age of 17years to attend Nurburgring circuit of Germany. His friend was competing at the race. It was this race that sparked auto racing interest in him. He thereafter joined a racing school through persuading his mother to cater for his lessons fee.
With determination to become a racer, Wolff sold his vehicle to buy a ‘Seat Ibiza’ in order to take part in ‘Ibiza Cup’ competition. After which he carried on to compete in the German and Austrian championships, Formulae Ford. At this point, he began earning out of his racing skills which were exceptional. In 1994 his career in racing was halted due to the sponsors backing out.
Due to this set back on his career in racing, Wolff was forced to switch his attention to business. He enrolled in Vienna University of Economics. His decision was not only triggered by lacking personal funds or sponsors, but he also knew that his height (6 feet and 2 inches) would become a hindrance to F1 racing career soon or later.
He later halted his studies from Vienna University to work at an investment bank as an intern. At this point, he realized he could learn more while in job than in class. Subsequently, he rose fast in ranks and joined the steel company team of sales management. The company was known as ‘Koloman Handler’. After the first and second year of working with the company, he saw an opportunity and sought to set up his own business. This business involved primarily being the Koloman agent in Poland. After creating an impressive client roster he went on to take a leave in America, from where he could consider his next step.
He found himself in San Francisco, at this time; the dot-com era was beginning to grow. He spotted a chance that he could capitalize on when in Austria. When he went back to Vienna he recognized companies based on internet and technology and staked on them. His venture paid off and helps him start off his Marchfifteen firm.
Career
He created his investment firm in 1998, which was the first ‘Marchfifteen’ firm. During the coming few years, the firm investment grew to the extent of having offices in Zurich, Warsaw, Berlin, Tel Aviv, and Vienna. Through the company, they struck deals with high profiles. This includes a stake with a popular software provider for content delivery, which was being co-financed also by the T-Mobile company.

But in the same year, his dream of investing in a team of F1 came true. This was through purchasing a 16% in Williams F1 stake. He joined the racing team board of directors and managed to be executive director of the team in 2012.
Wolff became the executive director of ‘Mercedes’ AMG P. F1 team in 2013 when he left his previous team, ‘William F1’. Also, he bought 30% shares of the Grand Prix limited of Mercedes Benz. And thereafter took over Mercedes Benz motorsport activities. To focus on the Formula one team of ‘Mercedes’ solely, he sold his shares in Williams formula one team by mid-2016.

He explained, the management of Mercedes told him that, “we are a group with 100 billion Euros in turnover but we are not sure whether we really understand motorsport. We would like a professional who is not only a manager but is also a co-shareholder, who is involved financially, has an entrepreneurial risk and is, therefore, someone we would be comfortable with.” After taking over the management of F1 as the director in 2014, his racers, Brawn and Hamilton secured the racing title.
