Tekashi69 was born on on May 8, 1996 in Bushwick, Brooklyn. His father is of Puerto Rican descent while his mother is of Mexican descent. Daniel had a very painful childhood life; His father was murdered when he was 13 years old. This was a major event in his life that made it a dark phase to live. When he was in 8th grade, he got expelled from school. In order to support his family, Daniel had started selling weed from a young age. One of the reasons that Daniel emerged so quickly among users online is because of his appearance. His rainbow dyed hair along with the rainbow grill and many unorthodox tattooes made him a joker among the perception of many internet users. He became an Internet meme and his face went viral all over social media. However, eventually people started to follow him once they got to know more about his music. This turned out to be a boon for him in many ways as it helped him build an audience with ready-made marketing.
In early 2017, Tekashi69 collaborated with rappers like Trippie Redd and UnoTheActivist on single “Owee”. His recent song “GUMMO” which was released in October 2017 was huge success. So far the song has been streamed over 40 million times on YouTube. It also managed to peak at number 12 on US Billboard Hot 100. On December 23, 2017 he released his next single titled “kooda”. The song debuted at 61 on Billboard Hot 100. Recently, he announced his debut mixtape on February 23, 2018 called Day69. This has been a big hit for the young rapper with the mixtape making it to the Billboard 200 chart.

But if he continues to produce such great music and create as much engagement as he does with his fans, this deal might even seem to be small in the future taking into consideration the fan following he has developed with his unique Tekashi69 persona.
