Carol Burnett’s $45 Million Fortune Explained
Carol Burnett’s estimated $45 million net worth in 2026 is the product of nearly seven decades in front of the camera, on stage, and on the page. Unusually for a television star of her era, Burnett secured ownership of the rights to The Carol Burnett Show rather than handing them entirely to the network — a decision that turned an 11-year variety series into a royalty engine that has paid out through syndication, home video, and streaming for decades. Alongside those residuals, her wealth draws on film and television acting fees, Broadway work, best-selling memoirs, and a steady stream of guest appearances that have continued well into her nineties.
How Carol Burnett Sustained Her Wealth for Decades
The Carol Burnett Show ran on CBS from 1967 to 1978 and became one of the most celebrated variety programs in television history, earning a shelf full of Emmy Awards over its run. Because Burnett retained a stake in the show, its long life in reruns kept generating income long after production ended. She has supplemented that foundation with a remarkably durable career: acclaimed dramatic and comedic film roles, stage work stretching back to her Broadway breakout in Once Upon a Mattress, and a series of best-selling books including This Time Together and In Such Good Company. Her contributions have been recognized with some of the highest honors in American entertainment, among them the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2005, Kennedy Center Honors in 2003, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in 2013, and the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award in 2016.
What Is Carol Burnett Doing Now?
Well into her nineties, Burnett has shown little interest in slowing down. She introduced herself to a new generation with a guest arc on Better Call Saul and, in 2024, joined the ensemble of the Apple TV+ comedy Palm Royale, a role that returned her to awards conversation and demonstrated that her comic timing remains intact. Continued acting work, ongoing royalties from her catalog, and book sales all reinforce a fortune that has grown rather than faded with time — a rarity in an industry where longevity is hard-won. That combination of legacy income and active work is why current estimates place her net worth around $45 million in 2026, up from roughly $20 million a decade earlier.
