Even though this was a small role, it led her to getting into the cast of a sitcom called Stanley where she played a starring role for a year.

With time, she got the opportunity as a performer for shows like The Tonight Show, hosted by Jack Paar, and The Ed Sullivan Show. This would lead to her selection on Broadway for a musical called Once Upon a Mattress, which in a way was her breakthrough role. After receiving a nomination for a Tony Award, her stock instantly went up and she now had a broadened array of opportunities in her sight. She went on to get an Emmy Award for The Garry Moore Show.
