Even though this was a small role, it led her to getting into the cast of a sitcom called Stanley where she played a starring role for a year.
With time, she got the opportunity as a performer for shows like The Tonight Show, hosted by Jack Paar, and The Ed Sullivan Show. This would lead to her selection on Broadway for a musical called Once Upon a Mattress, which in a way was her breakthrough role. After receiving a nomination for a Tony Award, her stock instantly went up and she now had a broadened array of opportunities in her sight. She went on to get an Emmy Award for The Garry Moore Show.
But the main highlight of her career has been hosting The Carol Burnett Show. This show initially debuted on television on 1967 and consistently got success for more than a decade. Today, she has 23 Emmy Awards to her name for this show along with many other prestigious awards to her name.
