DeMarcus was born on July 31, 1982 in Alabama. He went to Ogletree Elementary School where he played football, basketball and baseball. He then attended Auburn high School where he played as a linebacker and wide receiver. At High School, he won every game and was named team’s most valuable wide receiver, most valuable linebacker and won Top Leadership honors.

Ware played his college football from Troy University where he was two-time All-Sun Belt Conference selection for his team. He was a dominant player, receiving the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the year and was a finalist for the Hendricks Award, which is given annually to the top defensive end in college football.

He was drafted by Dallas Cowboys in the 11th overall pick in the first round of 2005 NFL Draft. In his debut season with Dallas Cowboys, he received NFL Defensive rookie of the month award for October after recording 16 tackles, three sacks and seven quarterback pressure to help his team to win. After nine seasons, he was released from the Cowboys.

In 2014, DeMarcus signed a three year, $30 million contract with Denver Broncos with $20 million guaranteed money. He played 16 games, finishing with 41 tackles, 10 sacks, 1 interception and two force fumbles during his debut season with Broncos. He received ProBowl honors in his first season with Broncos. He also won the Super Bowl 50 over the Carolina Panthers.

After three seasons, with Broncos, Ware announced his retirement from the NFL after 12 seasons. He signed a one day contract to retire as a member of Dallas Cowboys.
