Jamie Louise Anderson is an American professional snowboarder. She is one of the best known snowboarders in the world among women and is the first ever female to win more than one Olympic gold medal.

Early Life

Jamie Anderson was born on September 13, 1990, in South Lake Tahoe, California. She is the fifth of eight children in her family. Anderson was exposed to snowboarding from the tender age of 9. This was her first experience with the sport and it soon turned into her passion.

She was home-schooled at the Visions in Education which was very important to her as it helped her to focus on what she truly loved doing. She basically grew up hiking and learning along with nature which was a plus point for the development of her adventurous career. Growing up in the Sierra Mountain, it proved to be a great resource for her which would become an invaluable investment. By the time she was 15, she became the youngest ever to be a medalist at the Winter X Games.

Her biggest contribution to her country has been winning the gold medal in the debut of the Olympic Slope style competition in the 2014 Sochi Games. This created headlines all over her native country and today she has become one of the faces for the profession in the United States.

She now has eleven X Games medals to her name and has been named as the women’s TTR World Tour Champion 4 times. She has also won the award for “Best Female Action Sports Athlete” 3 times. ​Most recently, she would go on to repeat the same feat that she did in Sochi, Russia, winning the 2018 Olympic gold medal in Pyeongyang, South Korea.

She established the Jamie Anderson Foundation in 2013 with the purpose of helping the youths to achieve their athletic dreams as well as becoming environmental leaders. Her Foundation has a lot of focus towards helping young athletes and mentoring them to the right path in order for them to utilize their talents to the highest level of potential available. She wants to do this by giving them the much needed financial assistance and giving them exposure to different tournaments.

She also understood the importance of the environment from a very young age being so close to nature and spending so much time in the outdoors. It is now being reflected upon her mission to create positive role models for the next generation of environmentalists. She is also involved with the Protect Our Winters (POW) program which is on the mission to fight climate change.
