Karen Lucille Hale (known most commonly as Lucy Hale) is a US actress and singer who is best known for her appearance in the Pretty little liars’ television. She’s also know for her memorable roles on TV series such as Bionic Woman, Privileged and Life Sentenced. She was also a star from the reality TV show American Juniors back in 2003 which was a spin off from American Idol.

Lucy, named after her grandmother, lived in Memphis throughout her youth and originally attended the Cordova Optional School in Memphis but later was home schooled once she moved to LA. Lucy Hale began learning acting and singing when she was a young girl, which helped her a great deal in her later career. Lucy’s parents are Julie Knight (a registered nurse) and John Preston Hale. The family ancestors are in fact Welsh, Scottish, Irish and German.

Lucy Hale began her career when she won an audition for American Juniors in 2003. American Juniors was a spin off from American Idol but with a key difference in that it was not looking for a single solo singer as a winner, but to form a band of 5 singers. It was a new style of show that was run by the same folks as American Idol but only lasted a single season. The competition itself was rather grueling but Hale made it to the top 5 in the end where she had a memorable performance of “Call Me” by Blondie.
American Juniors band had 5 members in the end: Chauncey Matthews, Danielle White, Lucy Hale, Taylor Thompson and Tori Thompson. They came up with three albums in total between 2003 and 2004. One of their albums, One Step Closer, was ranked #2 in the Hot Canadian Digital Song Sales for 3 weeks. Nevertheless, because of poor sales, the group disbanded in 2005. Lucy traveled to Los Angeles in 2004 to begin her singing career. She began to search for a record deal.
Hale had some success in her auditions when she appeared as the younger sister of main character Jaime Sommers (played by Michelle Ryan) in NBC Bionic Woman’s recreation as Becca Sommers. She also found a key role in The Sisterhood of Traveling Pants, where she played Effie which was a younger sister of Lena Kaligaris (played by Alexis Bledel). Hale also joined forces with Ashley Newbrough and Joanna Garcia in the TV series Privileged. Another key role has been featuring in the TV movie Lifetime Sorority Wars.
In 2010, she was called the most widely recognized individual in her hit series, “Pretty Little Liars,” as was Aria Montgomery. Lucy was so renowned for this role that she won the Favorite TV-Actress in the 2017 Teen Choice Awards. Pretty Little Liars was a collection of young mystery television series based on a series of books by Sara Shepard named after him, that debuted in 2010 in ABC Family and was shown for seven seasons. This series was about a group of high school students and best friends living in Rosewood, Pennsylvania who one night during their sleep vanished.
Lucy also appeared in a Disney film “A Cinderella Story: Once On a Song” in addition to her role upon “Pretty Little Liars” and spoke Periwinkle’s character in an animated film, “Legend of the Wings”.

Lucy Hale Charity work
Back in 2013 Lucy Hale also signed a deal with Avon to be a brand ambassador for the line called Mark. The other famous celebrity that have had this role is Ashley Greene. The new role isn’t just about advertising the cosmetics but also there’s a charitable component where Hale will focus on supporting young women in need that have face violence or abuse. In the past, this philanthropic foundation, “m.powerment”, has raised in excess of $1m USD through donations and product sales.
This isn’t the only charitable service that Hale has supported. Being an avid animal lover, Hale has also supported the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) which helps to provide shelters, protects wild animals and more.
The other notable charity work which Hale lends her time and money to is Smile Train which is a charity that provides supports to children with cleft lips in the developing world. Other than foregoing birthday gifts in exchange for donations to Smile Train from her friends, Hale also worked with her Pretty Little Liars colleague Ian Harding to develop a product where profits could go to the charity.
